Carbonite Availability Powered by DoubleTake is our recommended solution for replicating PSQL databases running on Windows Server 2008 R2 or newer (up to Windows Server 2016 for right now). Older operating systems are also supported through older product versions, if needed. We have fully vetted this environment and have successfully configured it for numerous clients, providing both disaster recovery and fault tolerance for these users, as well as enabling a snapshot backup capability for large databases that is otherwise very difficult to achieve. (Our largest database client is nearing 2TB of replicated data!)
Carbonite Availability
Powered by DoubleTake is licensed by SOURCE (protected) server, so the target server does not need to have a license applied (like the older Double-Take Availability did). Carbonite has also simplified the pricing, with only two different pricing levels:Virtual Servers or Physical Servers.
Each license comes with one year of 24x7 Support and Maintenance directly from Carbonite, as well as one hour of setup assistance from Goldstar Software to make sure that the solution is properly installed to protect your database environment. You can purchase an additional 2 years of maintenance (3 years total) with your initial purchase at a discount, or you can wait and renew your maintenance annually after the first year. (If you are expecting to keep using it for a long time, then we definitely recommend the three-year plan, unless your organization needs to amortize subscriptions on an annual basis.)
As the product licensing can vary a bit depending on your exact implementation, we do NOT recommend that you order from these pages without talking to us first! Important Notes:
Fullfillment Time: Unlike most of our orders which typically fulfill the same day, even for non-stock items, OpenText/Carbonite can be really slow in fulfilling orders, with some items taking as long as 15 days for fulfillment. If you need a rush order, please let us know in the comments field, and we will press them to get the license key ASAP. If possible, remember to take this delay into account when you are ordering!
Sales Tax: OpenText requires that the end user contact information be used for the shipping address for all orders. Because of this, they will assess the LOCAL sales tax for your location, and they cannot accept a pass-through tax exemption certificate. For this reason, we will need to process your local sales tax as a pass-through expense. If your organization is exempt from sales tax, you may be eligible to request a credit from your local taxing authority.

Carbonite Availability Virtual Edition (AVAILVIRT) is designed to be used ONLY on virtual servers. If you are running a physical server, get the other SKU (below). Availability must be used with a server-class operating system, Windows 2008 R2 or above. If you are running Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008, then you need to get
Double-Take Availability v7 instead.
